The Caribbean
A Dream Location
The Caribbean is an archipelago that contains more than 7,000 individual islands spread over 1-million-square-miles. There are 3 main regions that are broken out as:
Eastern Caribbean – the chain of islands that starts with Haiti and the Dominican Republic and runs east to St. Martin and her neighboring islands of Saba and St Barts.
Southern Caribbean – defines the islands that run from Antigua down to Trinidad and also includes the ABC islands of Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire.
Western Caribbean – includes Cuba, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico as well as Belize and Honduras
The Caribbean is famous for beautiful beaches with warm waters, and wonderful people wherever you travel. In addition, you have rainforests in the East, fantastic Scuba and Snorkeling in the South and ancient Mayan Ruins in the West. Languages and currency vary island to island, but English is widely spoken and the US dollar is warmly welcomed just about everywhere.
The weather in the Caribbean in normally sunny and warm, which is just what many North Americans are seeking in our cold winter months. Hurricane season officially runs from July through October, but the month of September tends to be the most active. Remember, cruise ships can and do change their itineraries to avoid these storms so guests can have an enjoyable vacation even during this time of year.
